One minus zillion

Life started in oceans, thats what scientists tell us relentlessly yet I would love to believe that life started in beds (No double meanings please!!!). That apocalyptic alarm or the "what am I supposed to do about it" alarm of your roomie brings forth life in an otherwise lifeless body which is crouched and hidden under the comfortable warmth of a blanket. And all that crosses your mind is a zillion reasons as to why not to get up. Still, I have managed to conquer all and bring back my form to reality almost everyday since waking up by self became fashionable (read: I grew up).
But somehow and somewhere, waking up today was different. Suddenly, life had one lesser reason to drag me out of my bed. Suddenly, my long term ally against laziness had decided to call it a day. Suddenly, I was not sure as to why was I awake.
An epoch of my life had ended just the previous day, technically speaking I was no more an academic student. It really meant no more classes no more assignments and most of all no more examinations and yet somewhere in my heart I was not very sure as to how should I express it. Was I supposed to be happy or stoic or outright hyper-philosophical??!! Wasn't it exactly the day for which I had waited since my childhood (a few similar days have arrived and gone thrice before this one)?
With a one minus zillion reason to not wake up (really?), I felt betrayed and left out yet determined enough to snuggle back into the smugness of my blanket. And for the rest of the world, a warm good morning from the coldness of Ghaziabad.

Sometimes in life!!!

It happens for a day,
It happens for a time.
Life is sometimes not worth a dime,
Still it kicks alive and awake,
As if the promise is ours to make!!
Sarcasm and jibes don't make you stop,
Sometimes in life....you just aim for the top!!

Goals and aims become elusive,
You feel as if its a pain exclusive.
Hope is left prayers are kept,
All else from your hold is swiftly swept!!
Yet as the sun never fails to rise,
Sometimes in life....you become more wise!!

And then the glory shines its rays,
No stones, no thorns, no hopeless days!!
All you see is a time well served,
At your feet some place you deserved.
No one then says that there is something you can't,
Sometimes in life.....you get what you want!!

Sporty Affair at IMT Ghaziabad

Sport in IMT Ghaziabad is a serious issue. Everyone here breathes and lives in sports, be it a late night engagement or a mid day washout, “IMTians” are there. The ongoing football event of IMT Ghaziabad, Golazo is a living example of the passion. Neither the morning chill nor the hectic submission schedule has succeeded in dampening the mood. In all that, teams of the IMT Ghaziabad’s Dual Country Programme (DCP) are vying for top honours in the ongoing event. A facebook page Spor8 – IMT Ghaziabad DCP has taken up the onus of adding to the enthusiasm across the batch both in Dubai and India. IMT Gooodies, an online IMT souvenir store has also partnered with Spor8 – IMT Ghaziabad.

Another festival of light!!!

That morning when the sweeper swept,
A part of his heart happily wept.
Every year for the festival of light,
Brought with it a happiness slight.
For the meager purse didnt care for his joy,
Every cracker unburst was god's sweet ploy.
Pocketing the refused ones in his dirty pockets,
That man with the broom, no jewels no lockets.

Back at his home he emptied his treasure,
Happy to see his son's unbridled pleasure.
Few red small ones and a large green one,
Happiness for a day around him spun.
Bursting away in a minute of light,
Never in question what is wrong what is right.
Those two hands folded in a solemn delight,
Together they had seen another festival of light!!!

A burning cigarette!!

The smoky room in the corner hut,
Where life is fogged and breathing cut.
Horrors of the heart burning alight,
This is where begins all the plight.
Rasping coughs rising in the air,
Gasping for breath in utter despair.
As death between the fingers slowly burns,
Many still think that life never returns.

As the smoke goes in and back it comes,
A part of your heart silently numbs.
The leaving smoke leaves with some life,
Is it better to be dead than face some strife?
You know it all and still you smoke,
Perhaps you desire to cough blood and choke.
Making life an unending joke,
Your burning cigarette and the poison smoke!!

Recipe of freedom!!!!

A glassful of ocean is all that I need,
A spoonful of love delightful and sweet.
A pinch of smile,
Soaked for a while.
A big block of sky,
And a joyous cry.
And all that makes it worth a try......

Uneventful a day,
With a leisure of a bay.
Crystals of thrill,
With screams sharp shrill.
Stirred in the sour,
In a fearless hour.
And all it takes is a divine secret power.....

Bathed and tempted in mellowing sun,
Kept in bottles of bellowing fun.
Stirred through the play,
In most happiest way.
A drop down the throat and tear in here,
Whosoever wants it come to me dear.
And all that I want is you to come near.

After a glassful of wine!!!

I see the world with my drowsy eyes,
All I see is a blank edifice.
The tears go away.....
The pain stays back.
All I got is a heart with a crack.

Shattered to pieces by being offended,
Yet in a moment, the love has ended!!
Broken, dejected I decide to die.....
But for the love of my dear life,
I keep on living on the edge of a knife!!

Who else will know the pain of mine,
Better than the God of spirits and wine!!
In a moment I stood up all demented.....
And fell in love to fall again,
In love with the divine immortal pain.

My roommate and a paper of Geopolitics!!!!

Examinations have the power to alter your thought process. One moment you might be the biggest business innovator the world has ever known and the next you can end up in a labyrinth of intertwining thoughts that surely leads up to some bizzare fantasy. But having said that, I must come back to the point.
The recently concluded 7 day misadventure which the world referred to as exams brought out many a alien personalities in people I know. But surprisingly I was able to hold out for 5 consecutive days (that is what I would like to think!!). But the sixth day brought with it the events that I can best describe as ridiculous. On eve of my geopolitics paper, I had a divine idea of exploring beyond the forbidden (The books and presentations). Whether I was captivated or had lost control of my mind, I ended up cramming my head with substantial nitty gritties of geopolitics (That doesn't, shouldn't and wouldn't mean that I would get good marks in it). With a burdened head and light feet I decided to turn in for the day (which was technically another day) and left the air conditioned luxury of library for my humble room. And the first thing that I saw upon entering was a peacefully sleeping roomie.
Yet in his peace, I somehow figured out a deep intent of malice and in no time a map started dancing in my head. It was the map of India and Pakistan with a highlighted LOC and POK (I hope every Indian knows about them). My dear roommate had taken a posture of diagonal occupancy which due to his size and bulk had become a semi used triangular bed space. Adding further royalty to the posture was his head which crossed over into my bed space (#territorial). On a fine day this would had gone unnoticed, but this was not a fine day. Immediately it seemed to me as if he was the very personification of Pakistani government trying to hold on to Kashmir when vast north western parts of their own country (my roommate's unused triangular region of bed) are not under their control. Siezed by jingoism and geopolitics (my subject), I decided to take matters (my roomie's head) in my hands and set things right!!!!
This resulted in a broken sleep, a sense of achievement and a revelation of absurdity!!! Damn it, it would do me a whole lot of good if I imagine a bit lesser!!!

The People's Road

In this world of dos and don'ts,
Many a actions speak more words.
Yet ever when a giant is floored,
It is no doubt a victory scored!!

Far flung places away from the heart,
Never was a reason to be kept apart.
Yet never a road was ever carved,
It was for the love that people starved!!

Made by us made by all,
Made to be meant for distance to fall.
Man met man and got along,
It is here where we all belong!!

Still it grows and grows along,
That feeling of love that desire of long.
Far flung places away from the heart,
Never is a reason to be kept apart!!!

In support of Armstrong Pame and his brilliant achievement, "The People's road"!! Read and support the Tamenglong - Haflong Road Construction.

A story of heart

Fiery fired frenzied eyes,
Frenzied in love of our own device.
Love for the heart,
The priceless bard.
Bard of the men who are torn apart,
The men who held all for the heart.

Who went further to get those wounds,
Further ahead where the damsels swooned.
Where every heart kept them alive,
Hearts that blossom, hearts that thrive.
Blossoms again in the spring of life,
In merry in love in a priceless life.

In ever growing secrets of yore,
Growing from some heathen mighty folklore.
Some say its a gift from dear life,
Its worth to give up that hateful strife.
To make that life and love alike,
Life of love and reverse alike.

Start a day!!!

The ultimate way to start a day,
Is getting away from the way!!
A cup in hand and the paper on the way,
You just can't complain today!!!

Start with the boiling kettle of aroma,
With lots of love and and less of sugar!!
Let it blend and bend in your persona,
Let a beautiful day it augur!!

Thinking this before I sleep,
Takes away my will to turn in,
Yet for a reason deep and steep,
I can't leave the midnight burning!!!

Another slice of my life

In a corner of the world I stay alone,
People call it dirt, I call it home!!
Never ever meddling in matters of Kings,
I stay on living as the pendulum swings!!
No one even knows that I exist,
Since days of the yore, this neglect persist.
Unbeknownst to most of them,
A slice of my life still exists.

Torn apart by conflicting emotions,
Away from the leader's visionary visions.
My life goes on whosoever gains,
Full of uneven, copious pains.
Concerned about bread and butter,
Its not a question, whose windows they shatter.
Its not at the mercy of any of them,
A slice of my life still exists.

Not at the mercy of conquerors or vanquished,
Not in the name of victories accomplished.
Never for the sake of falling walls,
Neither for the reason of cannonballs.
Never ever in a thousand years,
Never in a history written of fears.
Apart from the moment of darkest hue,
A slice of my life still exists.

History: The Missing Sunday!!!

A weekend is every reason for celebration!!!! That too since times immemorial!!!! So much so that it even drives out entire history books upside down much to the ignorance of general public like us!!! To drive the point home let me introduce this concept of "suitable history" against history. Now we have famous dates and days, painstakingly documented and kept alive by people from all walks of life. The Ides of March (15th day of Roman March!!), Independence day (A general term throughout the world, thanks to colonial powers), D day, E Day, I Day and even Yom Kippur War!!! Yet somewhere suppressed deep in the annals of history are the events that took place on Sundays!!!
The reason is fairly baffling yet for some strange reason we simply don't care!!! Means we have never heard of "Sunday Revolution" or "Sunday of March" or "The battle of Sunday" etc. Every corner of the world swears by the Sunday (Except the Islamic Nations), so important it is that whether it is Monday, Wednesday or Friday the focus of our undivided attention is only Sunday!!!
This anomaly has prompted me to put forward my own theory!!! Looking at this consistent absence of Sundays, it would be a good idea to assume that even in past when people were supposedly more work oriented (That is what my neighbour tells me everyday), Sunday invariably proved to be their undoing. So the generals who made history on some Tuesday must have enjoyed their Sundays hunting and the government officials who were victims of some coup d'etat on Friday must have been busy planning the upcoming Sunday and hence lost focus and consequently their face (actually in some unfortunate cases). Also since government offices are closed on Sundays, no revolutionaries were interested in storming empty offices and hence an absence of "Sunday Revolution"....may be!!!
Whatever may be or have been the reasons, in my opinion Sunday is the most ignored facet of human history. May be we need to do something on a Sunday!!! How about teaching a troubling neighbour some lesson on a Sunday!!!

The Chronicles of India: No Lion, No Witch and the Wardrobe (Malfunction)

It is so unlike the legendary Narnia!!! And so much so that with only a few Lions left, it is better to say that no lions are involved. Same can't be said about the witches but let me have the benefit of doubt for despite the vileness of the lot, these "witches" are rather harmless!!! But it is the wardrobe that has to be here. A nation infatuated with wardrobes, once opened it gives the exact description of the family or individual who happen to own it. And here it is where the Narnia part comes into picture. My experience with various wardrobes has been vast and amusing. From the enviable spic and span wardrobe of a relative (No prizes for guessing that she was a girl) to the taxonomist's dream come true kind wardrobe of my friend, my tryst with wardrobes has been very interesting!!!

So I was forced to think as to whether C.S. Lewis also encountered any such wardrobe (High chances of the location being in India) where his imagination ran wild and the rest is history and three films till date!!! In India, the wardrobe fascination starts with a family's urge to stuff every piece of clothing accompanied by a mothball into this temporary penitentiary of clothes. But this urge has different meaning for all. The father stuffs the clothes with an intention of using them to clean his scooter/bike. The mother genuinely cares for the clothes and wants to avoid another costly shopping spree on account of damaged clothes. The elder sister stashes for the elusive special party and the brother finds the concept of wardrobe altogether ridiculous!!! Left to the poor mother to bring sense to the ridiculousness, the younger ones decide to use the space for hide and seek (The Narnia Story) and I have seen many of these running back screaming as some friendly spider or cockroach decided to say hello!!

This was until the modern days introduced a few more wardrobe issues (Not just literally, but actually too) which was again a family issue like our beloved original wardrobe. The wardrobe malfunction as we came to know it shook the TV room. The farsighted father of the yore now scrambled to keep the remote strictly under his control and keep his household "clean", the elder sister wanted to know about the malfunctioning dress for that now common parties. The younger brother still finds the concept ridiculous, when he has access to tons of "videos clips" daily on youtube and pirate bay!!! The mother chips in to make the idea of TV viewing an unpleasant one when she tunes in to one of the soap operas and dissuades any one else from getting near!!!

The family is still the same and so is the wardrobe (until it malfunctions). Broadly speaking...forget the what you read!!!!!

A slice from my life

It is the deadliest question of all,
As to why your heart is so small?!!
Why can't you think, why can't you care?!!
Why don't you see the nagging despair!!
Why is it so that you always say no?!!
Why can't you just let it go!!
To them I say:
Take a slice from my life and try to live,
You will know why I did what I did!!!

Yet on some weak and brazen moment,
I must go and share the torment!!!
Whether you are right, whether you are wrong
It is my duty to swim along!!
Yet if I wish the same from you,
I must remember, only a commitment is true!!
Feeling helpless ambushed by the world,
When I pity to be not in the fold!!
To them I still say:
Take a slice from my life and try to live,
You will know why I did what I did!!!

A Slice from my life is pretty hot,
You will know as to what I thought!!
Never ever thinking twice before,
Dare not question and pretend to be sore!!
Yet if you think you know it more,
I offer you the slice of which I spoke afore!!!
You will know why I did what I did!!!

Confused lover!!!

Am I to ask you little questions,
Make it clear and make some sense?!!
Am I to tell you when I ask for love,
It could be a gesture up and above?!!
Yet for a simple benign reason,
Love lasts a lifetime not a season.
Should I ask you for your heart,
Its for the love, not to be torn apart!!!

Whether to ask you to stay back and kiss??!!
Or let you go with a reason to miss!!
Should I stand and wait for you to depart?!!
Or should I start and hit the boulevard?!!
Walking alone on a lonely walk,
Carrying in my hand a flowerless stalk!!
Never to be seen never to be heard
Or should I stay put and listen to the heart?!!

Should I ask you for a dance or a date?
Or should I simply clear that plate?!!
May I drop you to your office tomorrow?!!
Whether you are happy or full of sorrow.
Am I to hold you smug and warm?
Or let you fleet like a boundless swarm!!
What am I to do to feel you loved?!!
To make you feel the feeling you deserved!!!

That coffee in the rain!!!

Going through days of life,
Something caught my eye!!
Drizzling slowly away from strife,
The divine gift of sky!!
Calling out louder than ever,
Urging to shed restrain!!!
I can fall in love forever,
With that coffee in the rain!!!

Drenched roads with misty smile,
Attempts to dryness all futile!!!
Dark clouds with thunder senile,
Last of the birds flying in a file!!
High in spirits with the sumptuous terrain,
With that brilliant and hot coffee in the rain!!!

Sprouts of green on sweet smelling earth,
Life taking roots jolly mundane!!
Courting smoky smell of the hearth,
Boiling happily for a moment serene!!
To make me forget my endless pain,
Let that elixir blend n drain,
To give me my coffee in the rain!!!

A classless society

Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin!!
Mao, Khrushchev, Ho Chi Min!!!

Sounds like a two line poetry, isn't it? And why not, such a poetic sounding entourage who also happen to be the ultimate champions of another poetry......Communism!!! Now why I call communism a poetry is because each and every individual has his or her own interpretation of it (I have been told that even nursery rhymes like Humpty Dumpty, Jack n Jill etc  have different interpretations!!!!!). And yet every one understands its basic theme......A classless society!!!! Seriously?? That's it?!!! Then every student in this world would be a communist (Now this is my understanding of Communism)!!!!

Absolutely trust me on that as students would be right at the top of the list of most indoctrinated and absolute communists. No one in this world hates engaging in classes more than the students. And it is my belief that no one  loves them more than our neighbourhood Sharma, Verma or Khanna ji and his distant relative's prodigal son or daughter (Let's brand them capitalist!!!).
Now putting my theory of Communism in this world as I understand it, we have the champions of classless society and the detractor capitalists who want classes to exist. It is my belief that the capitalist's prodigal relatives too want a classless world where classes, assignments, projects simply should not exist. And since they can't express themselves, it happens to be my solemn and moral duty to liberate the prodigies!!! Let me go and pick up a fight with Mr Sharma, Verma or Khanna. The same neighbours who might have given me a lift on a rainy day or chased away a thief from my terrace. Only because I believe that I am a communist and a victim of capitalism needs salvation through me!!! I may do it as well!!!
And when I want to rewrite the initial rhyme with hint of my name, my heart still croons.....

Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin!!
Mao, Khrushchev, Ho Chi Min!!!

I don't fit here!!! Damn....I have a class tomorrow morning, need attendance!!!

Steamy affair with blood and gore!!!!

Many people have very romantic notions regarding evening and night. Candle light dinners, ball room dances, suave discotheques and what not!!! Yet a supposedly marginalized  section of society who also think that they happen to be the children of lesser gods have a very different experience which is as scandalous as it can get!!!
It is the steamy experience of sauna that many would love to pay for. But the moment it is free of cost, its brand value gets diluted!!! And we the children of lesser gods are left to deal with this diluted brand and the eternal angels of action, dance, drama and music. Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you the mosquitoes!!!
Ultimate success of evolutionary cheekiness has ensured that they manage to stick around and play their part in our "steamy affairs". Skillfully managing to spot one area of vulnerability,  they for sure bring action in our otherwise lazy and neglected lives. Extra points for treating us like free vending machines and soothing the heart by reducing its workload (lesser the blood, lesser the workload).
Notwithstanding the benevolence of such a noble creature, man has come up with umpteen concoctions so that we might remain lazy and comforted. Yet, the concoctions fail to dampen the spirit of the noble mosquitoes who have inspired scores of B grade Hindi films!!!
But the whole scenario becomes dangerous and personal when people decide to take up matters actually in their hands. Self hurting splats and swats try to master the indomitable angels. And success means.....a scene right from some Tarantino movie!!!! All blood and gore with the creature's existence dissolved in it!!! Many wished they had not done it for the sake of hygiene!!! Yet as a second mosquito whizzes past the ear, it is time for action again!!!! That steamy affair with blood and gore!!! SWATTTTT!!!!!

Crazy physics!!!!

It is absolutely normal to have happening lives (I am not kidding!!). But what if the whole world conspires to make it otherwise?? A sleepless night, a horrible fight, a couple of submissions (trust me, even one does the trick), a lost badminton racket or an early morning class, each one of them are enough to destroy your day. And all hell breaks loose on someone who is unfortunate ( the term in civilized world is "busy") enough to encounter them in one go!!! God bless him or her!!

Yet that extraordinary day is commonplace in the campus!!! Drained of all hope of redemption (I learnt this word from a famous movie!!!), I and many of you sometimes take a flight of stairs to meet our torment on the first floor. And if god has decided to be harsh upon you, the second and subsequent floors!!!

The other day, I had another such "extraordinary" day. And I had been sentenced by fate to a second floor voyage. A few steps up and I started doubting the basic concepts of physics which claim that gaining height makes you gain energy (remember potential energy= mgh??), but here on the contrary I felt as if I was giving up my last humane reserves!!!! Still climbing up, after the first floor I was in a colourful state of mind after seeing a few pretty faces. Ignoring the imbalanced load of laptop and copies in my hand, I was ready to defy logic and gravity to reach my destination as soon as possible when for the second time I cursed physics!!! With a crashing sound, my laptop and copies lamely surrendered to the overwhelming overlordship of gravity. Picking up my humble belongings, I resumed my journey and as I reached my destination and encountered.....Murphy's law (The damned law must also be a law of physics!!!)!!
Closed doors greeted me and I had little choice but to go back from where I started, but why on earth was physics with me now??!!! I was supposed to lose energy now, right?? But on the contrary I was gaining it!!!!
Damn the crazy physics!!!!

When a desi goes videsi!!!!

It is not at all a surprise to be daily bombarded by a barrage of exotic photographs from your friend in arms who was supposedly on a student exchange but was apparently more on a foreign trip.
Green valleys, snow capped mountains, pretty girls, happening parties etc, you name it and he was having it!!! And the situation becomes graver when a passing mosquito decides to treat you like a roadside soda parlour. Yet somewhere at the back of mind I knew that he was just enjoying his time.
Until one fine day (actually night), a somewhat familiar and irritating Facebook ping announced the fulfillment of the ultimate Indian dream for my buddy!!!!He was in the local newspaper!!! Curious, I started reading and was encountered by something like this:
“Die lange nasskalte Zeit scheint endlich uberwunden…….”
Now how on earth is an Indian, born and brought up in India on a staple of Bollywood films and Shakespeare supposed to understand this??!!! Flabbergasted, I tried reasoning with my “Desi baba”, who had insisted upon me to read it. And what I saw on the messenger window, was it the same language as that of the newspaper?!! Yes!!! It was!!!
Achtung!!! Ich!!!Danke!!!
Now how “local” the newspaper was and what his achievements were was of no more interest to me. What interested me more was the meaning of these new words that my friend had learnt. And why not, a few points of parity are definitely to be maintained between friends. And hence, the great achievement of my friend was lost in the quest of a “desi” who was trying hard to bridge the “German gap”.

And the next time my friend pinged me, I surprised him with “Guten Morgen”.

Sleeping sickness or the sleeping beauty!!!!

Waking up at 3:15 p.m. and rubbing my poor eyes, realization dawns upon me that I have just missed a class!!!!! Scary!!!!!
My mind suddenly starts working over time and a checklist appears......
Last class done....check
Number of classes missed is below two.....check...uncheck...recheck... what the heck!!!
And the world's greatest "What if analysis" is kick started in my mind....what if it is the second miss?? or a third miss?? Should I submit a sick leave application??...etc. etc. etc.
But with each passing moment I was slowly entering in to a state of mind which has ruined many a life....the state of "Chalta hai" and "Dekh lenge". And trust me, the placebo effect that this mental state creates brings with it an awesome state of ignorant's bliss.
Ah!!! As I talk about it, I need some inspiration!!!!

A presentation fiasco!!!!

As it mostly happens with happenings of unprecedented redundancy, people start taking such things very lightly. Yet a shake up or wake up call is enough to remind one that things are to be taken up as they are supposed to be!!!!
Confused??!!! So was I!!!! And that too until today morning, when an extraordinary "shake" brought me out of my comfort zone and on to this last refuge of mine!!!
Giving presentations has never been a big thing for me (at least I thought so!!). But suddenly today morning I found myself in a position that could be best described as..........dumbstruck!!!
Going through each and every point of my slides was a man who found nothing right in them and adding insult to the injury were a merry band of harmless (that is what I think they are) classmates.
Damn it!!! I thought!!! And the more I damned the situation, the more damned I was left!!
Every point on my slide was countered even before I could utter a word of explanation. All I could do was to deal with my silent mouth which was still open from the last attempt to explain and an improper gesture that my hand had mapped for my gagged words.
Seriously speaking, I felt more like a hapless mime artist than a presenter who was trying to express through only gestures.
Left sulking at the center stage (It might well had been the center of hell), all this lasted for exactly one hour ten minutes and a few more painful seconds (I am serious!!!).
And hence came to an end one of the most horrible (by conservative estimates) ordeals of my life in recent times.
And as I try to enjoy a beautiful evening, the morning still haunts me and a harmless classmate again makes sure that I can't!!!! Damn it!!!! I hate harmless people!!!!
