A weekend is every reason for celebration!!!! That too since times immemorial!!!! So much so that it even drives out entire history books upside down much to the ignorance of general public like us!!! To drive the point home let me introduce this concept of "suitable history" against history. Now we have famous dates and days, painstakingly documented and kept alive by people from all walks of life. The Ides of March (15th day of Roman March!!), Independence day (A general term throughout the world, thanks to colonial powers), D day, E Day, I Day and even Yom Kippur War!!! Yet somewhere suppressed deep in the annals of history are the events that took place on Sundays!!!
The reason is fairly baffling yet for some strange reason we simply don't care!!! Means we have never heard of "Sunday Revolution" or "Sunday of March" or "The battle of Sunday" etc. Every corner of the world swears by the Sunday (Except the Islamic Nations), so important it is that whether it is Monday, Wednesday or Friday the focus of our undivided attention is only Sunday!!!
This anomaly has prompted me to put forward my own theory!!! Looking at this consistent absence of Sundays, it would be a good idea to assume that even in past when people were supposedly more work oriented (That is what my neighbour tells me everyday), Sunday invariably proved to be their undoing. So the generals who made history on some Tuesday must have enjoyed their Sundays hunting and the government officials who were victims of some coup d'etat on Friday must have been busy planning the upcoming Sunday and hence lost focus and consequently their face (actually in some unfortunate cases). Also since government offices are closed on Sundays, no revolutionaries were interested in storming empty offices and hence an absence of "Sunday Revolution"....may be!!!
Whatever may be or have been the reasons, in my opinion Sunday is the most ignored facet of human history. May be we need to do something on a Sunday!!! How about teaching a troubling neighbour some lesson on a Sunday!!!
